Increased Efficiency at VP Plaza España Design Hotel

Crown’s Flexibility and Trust Ensures VP Hoteles’ Continued Loyalty

Application
In 2018, VP Hoteles opened its VP Plaza España Design hotel in Madrid, destined to be the flagship of the chain. Its 214 rooms have the latest technology and domotics to adapt to the tastes and demands of each client. It also has 1,400 m2 of space for the most exclusive events. On the 12th floor the Ginkgo Restaurant & Sky Bar features an amazing terrace with 360° views of the city and an outdoor swimming pool with a transparent background that is one of the great attractions of the hotel.

Challenge
VP Hoteles already had four hotels in Madrid and the management was aware of the demands involved in the maintenance and cleaning of this type of establishment, as well as the inconvenience of having to work at heights in narrow corridors and places with difficult access. They needed a piece of equipment to facilitate the maintenance of fire-fighting systems, lighting, audio, decoration as well as cleaning on all 17 floors. Productivity, customer service and good after-sales service were three of the key factors for the purchase decision.

Solution
Already familiar with the Crown WAV 50 at one of the parent company’s other businesses, VP Hoteles offered Crown the opportunity to demonstrate the WAV 60 Work Assist Vehicle®. The decision to purchase the new Wave® order picker with its powered load tray was easy. Javier Perez, General Manager of VP Hoteles states: “We already knew about Crown’s customer service, quality and reliability, but this new Wave is totally different from what we’ve tried so far. The Wave trucks are easy to use, truly multifunctional, and allow us to access any corner of the hotel.”

He was convinced by its modern design, which presents a much more aesthetic solution than using ladders. It is also extremely quiet in operation and can maintain the perfect condition of the delicate surfaces over which it has to drive, for example, the marble in the reception area. The Wave Work Assist Vehicle has become an essential tool for the maintenance and cleaning of all common areas of the hotel open to the public, providing the necessary safety for both employees and customers themselves. Crown’s technical team configured the Wave to the specific needs of the hotel and also conducted a training for all operators involved in maintenance and cleaning.

Results

  • The compact dimensions and the manoeuvrability of the Wave allow operators to move easily through hotel corridors and doors, enter and exit elevators and easily enter the hotel rooms.

  • Ladders have been replaced with the Wave, removing the risks associated with their use in narrow spaces and corridors.

  • Productivity has increased drastically, because with Wave, operators can fulfil tasks on their own for which two people were needed before.

“Before we had the Wave, two people were needed for any cleaning or maintenance work. Now we can double the activity of the staff and while one of the operators performs maintenance tasks with the Wave, the other can perform any other activity that does not require working at height.”
