New touchscreen display for fleet management system

Crown now offers a larger, intuitive colour LCD display module as an option for all forklift trucks equipped with the company’s InfoLink® fleet management system. The robust InfoLink 7″ touchscreen has an intuitive user interface that facilitates operator onboarding and boosts both productivity and safety in typical warehouse applications. Starting now, the new InfoLink touchdisplay is available for all Crown forklifts.

The new, adjustable LCD colour display provides each operator with a unique user experience. Using intuitive, easy-to-read menus and configurable widgets, operators can, for example, customise their displays and receive context-sensitive tips for improving their interaction with the truck. Each forklift truck’s operational parameters can be tailored to individual operators’ skills and experience, thanks to three programmable performance modes and support for multiple languages.

“Our design approach is based on the conviction that a next-generation technology should be easy to use and operator friendly. That’s why we observe operators’ interaction with their forklifts closely during the development phase – this way we can understand workplace contexts, physiological needs and cognitive demands as clearly as possible,” explains Horst Kirsch, Senior Manager Product Marketing at Crown EMEA. “Our new InfoLink 7″ touchscreen module is an excellent example of how we use the insights from these observations to improve operator-truck interaction to enhance productivity and improve safety throughout the workflow, from start to finish. Wireless downloads give customers immediate access to new features, so they can take advantage of additional functions or accommodate new application requirements as their operational needs evolve.”

When operators log in, onscreen checklists with graphics guide them through the necessary safety checks. Crown can individually customise checklists in consultation with the customer. During actual forklift operation, the screen periodically displays special safety reminders. In addition, Dynamic Coaching™ messages provide real-time feedback, aiming to reinforce what operators have already learned during training.
