The awards, which are sponsored by the VDMA Material Handling and Logistics Systems Sector Association, will be presented in May at the CeMAT exhibition in Hanover. The IFOY Award is presented in five categories by a jury made up of internationally-reputed trade journalists.
QuickPick Remote is a technology designed for use with Crown’s GPC 3000 Series order pickers. Wireless control means operators no longer have to return to the truck’s operator platform as they can move the order picker forward at the touch of a button. This leaves both hands free for the picking task and saves time picking the next item. During field tests, individual pick orders were precisely replicated and the time required to fulfil these orders was measured both on trucks equipped with and without QuickPick Remote. The outcome of these long-term tests showed average productivity increases by 10 percent with gains of up to 25 percent realised when using QuickPick Remote order picking technology.
Ken Dufford, vice president, Crown Equipment comments: “We’re delighted to have been nominated for this prestigious award once again. The nomination helps confirm our belief that QuickPick Remote is one of the best new ideas for improving productivity and cutting costs in the warehouse. The system brings together technology and natural operator activity to create workflow efficiency in the order-picking process. With QuickPick Remote, we’ve made a significant step by safely automating a portion of a warehouse process which can even be implemented cost-effectively in an existing environment.”
The mission of the IFOY Award is to identify and recognise the year’s best material handling equipment and intralogistics solutions, assess outstanding technical and strategic achievements in intralogistics, and generate stimuli for innovation. In doing so, the competition aims to boost competitiveness and raise the profile of the entire intralogistics sector in the public arena, and has become one of the industry’s most prestigious awards.
In 2013, Crown earned the IFOY Award in the Forklift Truck Solutions category for its wireless InfoLink® fleet and operator management system.
