Food Logistics Honors Crown Equipment as Top Green Provider

NEW BREMEN, Ohio (July 21, 2020) – Crown Equipment Corporation, one of the world’s largest material handling companies, was honored for the fourth straight year as a Food Logistics 2020 Top Green Provider. Crown and fellow honorees were recognized in the June issue of Food Logistics for advancing sustainability in the food and beverage industry through products, services and leadership.

Crown earned recognition in the categories of Lift Trucks and Related Equipment, Reclamation and Recycling, Alternative Fuels, and Material Handling Systems.

With more than 20 sustainability awards to its credit, Crown continues to demonstrate leadership in environmental improvement and sustainability in the material handling industry. The company has reduced greenhouse gases and its environmental footprint through product design, packaging, enhanced energy efficiency, lean business processes, reduced resource consumption and waste elimination.

Crown helps customers reduce their own environmental impact with lift trucks and associated material handling products that are designed and manufactured to increase productivity and efficiency, reduce emissions and maintenance requirements and extend both run times and product lifetimes.

Crown’s lithium-ion technology is also a viable option for food and beverage companies and other operations considering efficient alternative power sources for warehouse equipment. Crown’s lithium-ion-powered electric forklifts, pallet jacks and trucks, tow tractors, narrow-aisle turret trucks, reach trucks, order pickers and stackers are supported by Crown’s V-Force® Lithium-Ion Energy Storage System, including batteries and chargers. V-Force lithium-ion batteries offer operational and environmental advantages such as:

  • Greater energy efficiency over lead-acid batteries. Crown’s V-HFM3 Series of modular battery chargers adds to this energy savings, performing at up to 97% efficiency.
  • Capability to be opportunity charged during operator breaks without removing the battery or adversely affecting battery life – contributing to longer run times
  • Maintenance-free, sealed design that eliminates the need for battery watering
  • No emission of gas during charging, eliminating the requirement for battery rooms and specialized air filtration systems

Crown’s advanced technology and automation solutions further its commitment to sustainability and higher productivity. It’s DualMode™ T Automated Tow Tractor and wireless InfoLink® fleet and operator management system enable users to improve resource utilization while other product features such as the Auto Positioning System, Xpress Lower, and eGen® Braking improve productivity and save energy. The company’s Encore remanufacturing process essentially prepares electric lift trucks for a second life by stripping each vehicle down to its frame to meticulously inspect, repair and/or replace every part that goes back into the product.
