SDCE Acknowledges Crown for its Sustainability Efforts

NEW BREMEN, Ohio (December 11, 2018) – Crown Equipment Corporation, one of the world’s largest material handling companies, has earned the 2018 Green Supply Chain Award from Supply & Demand Chain Executive for its success in making green initiatives and sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy.

The 2018 Green Supply Chain Awards recognize companies who have achieved measurable sustainability goals within their operations in the areas of sourcing/procurement, fulfillment/logistics, operations, product lifecycle management and other areas of the supply chain.

The honor adds to Crown’s growing list of sustainability awards. Since 1991, Crown has been recognized with more than 20 sustainability awards. Crown is a three-time recipient of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Encouraging Environmental Excellence (E3) gold-level award, which acknowledges organizations that exceed regulatory obligations and commit to long-term strategies to reduce waste, lower emissions and improvement environmental performance. Recently, Crown’s manufacturing plant in Troy, Ohio became the company’s sixth facility to achieve zero landfill status.

“Sustainability is integrated into our daily business processes, corporate culture and global business strategy,” said Brian Duffy, Crown’s director of corporate environmental and manufacturing safety. “We believe that protecting the environment is the right thing to do, and we owe these successes to this grassroots philosophy. Recognition like this award reinforces the hard work our employees do to make our company a force for sustainability and help increase people’s awareness of the environment.”

John R. Yuva, editor for Supply & Demand Chain Executive, said this year’s entries were examples of innovative approaches and impressive metrics of sustainability programs.  “We congratulate this year’s honorees for their commitment to sustainability and recognize their tremendous achievements,” Yuva said. “Our honorees serve as role models for supply chains globally to expand their reach and impact of green leadership.”
