An innovative Australian ceiling fan manufacturer has placed Crown Equipment at the centre of its national distribution operations thanks to the brand’s quality, value and ability to work as a trusted business partner.
Hunter Pacific International, which designs and engineers its cutting-edge products onsite at its head office in Dural, NSW, exclusively runs an array of Crown material handling equipment including the SC, SHR and WP Series models as well as a Wave work-assist vehicle.
The relationship started over 15 years ago when Hunter Pacific bought a Crown hand pallet truck. That led to a succession of Crown equipment being purchased as the company expanded its warehousing and distribution channels.
Hunter Pacific Director Philip Allen said the service and support Crown has offered over the years has made it the right brand to help him grow his business.
“We have always used Crown and always will,” Mr Allen said.
“The service and back-up has always been great and we tend to get a pretty good life out of our Crown lift trucks and equipment. One of them is over 10 years old.
“Additionally, all of our distributors run Crown forklifts. We recommended the brand to them.
“It has been a great ongoing business relationship. The first person who sold us a Crown is still the person we deal with.”
Mr Allen said his interest in good design and advanced technology was also a factor in Hunter Pacific’s ongoing use of Crown equipment.
“They’re beautiful machines. We run them here in Sydney, in Melbourne and in WA,” he said.
“We get Crown in to service them on a reasonably regular basis and I’m not aware of ever having any downtime.
“The initial outlay is slightly higher than with some other brands but using Crown equipment is all about keeping our customers happy in the long-term and it works out to be good value.”
At its Sydney site, Hunter Pacific relies on the Crown SC 4500 Series three-wheel, counterbalanced truck for day-to-day warehouse management. The SC 4500 features Crown’s exclusive e-GEN™ braking system for efficiency and reduced maintenance, a clear-view mast for effective visibility and Crown-built AC drive motors for performance and longevity.
The business also uses a Crown Wave® work-assist vehicle for managing smaller stock items. Hunter Pacific still uses the first piece of Crown equipment it bought, the original Crown PTH hand pallet truck.
Sydney warehouse manager John Doherty said the strength of Crown’s support helps him run an effective distribution centre for Hunter Pacific.
“Crown is well known and has a good name; the product and service match up,” Mr Doherty said.
“We run a busy warehouse, lifting loads of up to 500 kilograms to heights of 12 metres every day. We’ve not experienced any downtime.
“If I forget to book the machine in for routine maintenance, Crown’s service technicians will get in contact and we’ll get it done, it’s easy,” he said.
Hunter Pacific was founded in 1985 by Mr Allen and wife Leigh with a focus on making products with good design, technical innovation and high quality.
It now has warehouses and distributors in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. It is managed as a family affair with Philip’s and Leigh’s three sons working in the business.
The company’s achievements include the invention and development of a single-bearing ceiling fan, the introduction of ‘mix and match’ and stainless steel fans, recognition with an Australian Design Award and numerous patents and design standards which have been adopted throughout the ceiling fan industry.
Hunter Pacific produces its own tooling at the Sydney site and fully tests its products in its own onsite, National Association of Testing Authorities certified laboratory.
