Ltd., part of Crown Equipment Corporation, led the Logistics Equipment Company category with its innovative InfoLink® technology at the Singapore Business Review (SBR) International Business Awards 2018. Crown is one of the world’s largest material handling companies. The SBR International Business Awards honour international companies making significant contributions to business in Southeast Asia.

The SBR organisation encouraged participants to showcase their most innovative technologies, projects and specific products in operation utilising industry leading best practices that effectively improve business operations for companies in the Southeast Asia region. Successful nominees were invited to present their best case studies to a selected panel of experts.

The judging panel consisted of Ng Jiak See, executive director and head of corporate finance advisory at Deloitte Singapore & Southeast Asia; Choo Eng Chuan, ASEAN markets leader and partner, international and corporate tax services at Ernst & Young Solutions LLP; Toh Kim Teck, assurance partner at Foo Kon Tan LLP; and Henry Tan, managing director at NEXIA TS.

This year, Crown presented the InfoLink® Operator and Fleet Management system as its winning entry, a wireless solution that puts the power of accurate, on-demand business metrics at the users’ fingertips. Crown brings the benefits of technology to material handling by connecting forklift trucks, operators and facilities and collecting accurate, real-time information for better decision-making. The solution also enables the monitoring and management of operator factors that affect the bottom line, including compliance, impacts, and productivity. InfoLink® also tracks data across the entire forklift fleet to provide insight on fleet utilisation, energy consumption, and service scheduling.

InfoLink® is specially designed with a user-friendly interface that provides helpful tools, such as real-time alerts, intuitive dashboards, and detailed reports, for managers, supervisors, safety managers and operators. This on-demand performance data will contribute to better decision-making as it allows clients to explore and analyse issues quickly, as well as set benchmarks via interactive dashboard tools.

The solution can also be implemented with ease. By combining precise truck-based sensors, secure wireless data transmission, and a cloud-based management portal, InfoLink provides maximum benefits with minimal equipment or expense. The solution is also easily customisable, with modules to be installed on an entire forklift fleet; electric and gas forklifts, non-Crown lift trucks and other vehicles. InfoLink® is available as a secure, scalable web-based solution, so its full functionality is available whenever and wherever required.

XPO Logistics, one of the world’s largest and fastest growing logistics companies, referenced the operational results delivered in partnership with Crown. XPO Logistics required efficient, reliable and productive material handling equipment capable of synergising with XPO staff and systems in order to meet and exceed the needs of its customers. Crown Unveils Cooler Running GX Plus Series Forklift

Crown GX Plus Series Forklift

Crown GX Plus Series Forklift

Revisions to Crown Equipment’s entry-level internal combustion-engine 2-3 tonne forklift range have improved its performance, appearance and ergonomics.

The new GX Plus Series, which provides customers with an economical yet strong-performing option offering diesel and LPG engine choices, comes with a completely redesigned counterweight for improved airflow to maximise cooling capacity. The redesign also modernises its appearance.

The updates have also made it easier for drivers to monitor the functions of GX Plus Series forklifts, with a new, easy-to-read instrument panel displaying coolant and transmission oil temperatures, fuel level and operating hours, oil pressure and alternator voltage.

The upgrades add to the strength, reliability and performance for which the original GX Series is renowned.

The GX Plus Series retains the reliable 3.3-litre Yanmar ‘Tier 3’ diesel engine which produces 44 kilowatts of power and 181 Newton metres peak torque at a low 1600rpm. The well-regarded 2.5-litre Mitsubishi LPG engine, which develops 46kW and 181Nm, is also retained.

The improved cooling capacity, combined with a dual-element air cleaner, helps both engines provide reliable performance between service intervals. Both engines combine with a rigid transaxle and single-speed Powershift transmission for low maintenance costs.

The GX Plus Series’ improved instrumentation adds to the already sound ergonomics inherent in the comfort and productivity-focused cabin, which features generous legroom, ergonomically-located pedals, low cowl height and overhead guard designed for visibility and an adjustable-reach steering column.

Crown’s Executive Director APAC – Steve Stewart said the GX Plus Series’ revisions, combined with Crown’s renowned Southeast Asia-wide service levels and spare part support, help keep it the go-to choice in entry-level forklifts.

“The GX Plus Series offers the level of reliability, performance and operator-focused ergonomics typically available from Crown, but at an entry price that makes it attractive to companies that don’t run their forklifts all day and might otherwise be considering a second-hand unit.

“Its improved ergonomics have made it a stronger proposition for both operators and owners while its improved cooling performance makes it better suited to working in hot Southeast Asia conditions.

“The GX Series has always been a tough truck and it remains so as the GX Plus Series. The GX Plus Series’ well-regarded diesel and LPG engine choices, bulletproof drivetrain and task-focused cabin mean it’s a serious proposition that will help make small businesses into bigger ones,” he said.

Crown Launches Low-Cost, High Performance Electric Pallet Truck

Crown WP3010 Pallet Truck

Crown WP3010 Pallet Truck

Crown Equipment has boosted its pallet truck line-up with an economical yet strong performing new model.

The WP 3010 Series features all the Crown WP Series quality hallmarks in a more compact and economically priced package and is now available Southeast Asia through Crown’s national branch network.

Designed and manufactured by Crown Europe in Roding, Germany, the WP 3010 features an AC drive motor combined with the e‑GEN regenerative braking system for performance, reliability, long battery life and maintenance-free braking.

The WP 3010 Series’ short (500mm) head length, fork length of up to 1150mm, built-in charger and low weight (279kg without battery) make it nimble and convenient, perfect for back-of-truck work.

However, its load capacity of 1600kg, heavy-duty gearbox, robust helical gear set, optimised steel structure and high-tensile steel forks mean it is just as rugged.

The WP 3010 Series also features the same cast aluminium Crown X-10® handle with easy-to-use-ergonomic controls used on the rest of the WP Series range.

Crown Equipment Executive Director – Asia Pacific – Steve Stewart, said the WP 3010 Series’ competitive pricing will bring Crown quality to a whole new market segment.

“Crown has made a power pallet truck with compact dimensions, so it’s ideal for moving and positioning loads quickly and safely in confined storage spaces,” Mr Stewart said.

“In doing so, it has also compacted the entry price of the Crown WP Series model line-up.

“It means that you no longer need to sacrifice quality, longevity and ergonomics to have an affordable power pallet truck.

“This new model is perfectly at home doing kerbside deliveries, transport on truck beds as well as retail applications and even manufacturing environments,” he said.

Crown Opens New Facility in South Korean Growth Hub

Crown South Korea branch

Growing demand for its lift trucks and fleet management technology has led Crown Equipment to upgrade its South Korean operations with a move to a larger facility in one of the country’s fastest growing logistics hubs.

Located in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do, the new facility supports Crown Korea’s experienced, factory-trained team of material handling specialists including the sales and service technicians and support staff who assist customers countrywide.

The new branch is located for greater convenience and features larger sales and rental forklift fleets, better stock capacity and improved inventory management for faster parts turnaround.

The Icheon facility is the third major demand-driven expansion in Asia for Crown in the last 12 months, following recently completed facilities in Johor, Malaysia and Rayong in Thailand.

Crown Equipment managing director for Asia Pacific, Steven Hill, said the new facility was required due to steadily increasing customer numbers and geographical spread of demand for Crown’s innovative products and services.

“The new branch is another example of Crown’s commitment to our growing number of South Korean customers in manufacturing, industrial, warehousing and logistics,” Mr Hill said.

“It also demonstrates Crown’s ability to improve the customer experience through ongoing infrastructure development in the Asian market, which is bringing global technology to local business in Asia whilst expanding the customer support network.

“Since we began operating in South Korea, Crown has delivered genuine cost savings, operational improvements and operator safety improvements to its customers, as well as growing employment opportunities.

“The new facility also enables Crown to extend its already strong environmental credentials, which is in harmony with the sustainability focus of the Icheon area.

Located in the region’s commercial Busan-Jeonju-Icheon ‘growth triangle’, Icheon is home to the port of Tanjung Pelepas, South Korea’s largest logistics complex, which supports the majority of the country’s resource refineries.

The area is also at the junction of three major expressways servicing Jungbu, Gyeongbu and Yeongdong, for easy vehicle access.
