Crown Equipment Earns SDCE Top 100 Supply Chain Projects Award

NEW BREMEN, Ohio (June 26, 2018) – Crown Equipment Corporation, one of the world’s largest material handling companies, recently earned a Top 100 Supply Chain Projects award from Supply & Demand Chain Executive (SDCE). Crown earned its place on the list for helping Northgate Markets, a chain of supermarkets in Southern California, improve operator compliance, productivity and safety.

The annual SDCE 100 award spotlights successful and innovative projects that deliver bottom-line value to small, medium and large enterprises across the range of supply chain functions. The full list of this year’s SDCE 100 projects are featured in the publication’s June 2018 print edition.

Working with Crown, Northgate Markets attained its lowest injury rate in 11 years and achieved full compliance with forklift operator pre-shift inspection requirements. Looking to improve inspection documentation and impact avoidance, the company implemented Crown’s InfoLink® wireless operator and fleet management system to monitor and manage every motorized vehicle in its fleet. From setting impact thresholds for each forklift to electronically filing vehicle inspection data and impact reports, InfoLink has helped Northgate Markets improve operator compliance, productivity and safety.

“Everyone is a contributor to safety, and it starts with the right mindset that produces safe behaviors. This is something that the management and employees at Northgate Market very much understand,” said Jim Mozer, ITA National Forklift Safety Day chairman and senior vice president, Crown Equipment. “At Crown we strive to create great products that help promote safe working environments for our customers. Awards such as the SDCE 100 are recognition for our employees and customers, and the outstanding work they are doing together to create successful safety programs. They also provide us an excellent opportunity to share with the industry best safety practices that can strengthen safety culture.”

According to John Yuva, editor for Supply and Demand Chain Executive the award-winning projects are best-in-class examples of the types of efficiencies and bottom line results that supply chain executives should be striving toward in their organizations.
