At Crown Equipment, employees are more than a number—they’re an investment. Crown is committed to helping its employees excel at their jobs and grow into long-term career goals. One way the company does this is through programs and training that provides skills and knowledge to both new and current employees.
All areas of the company participate in a wealth of training programs. Programs cover topics such as safety and lean manufacturing, leadership and interpersonal skills and facilitation of value stream mapping (VSM) and kaizen. New employees go through a quick start program where they gain certification for specific jobs such as welding and machining.
“After they go through the quick start program, they go to the job site, where a trainer works with them,” said Stephanie Kovach, manufacturing training center manager at Crown. “We’re laying a foundation for people to make a career with the company.”
Crown’s Demonstrated Performance training gives new employees hands-on training customized to their skills and needs. This method allows employees to practice as they learn, and gives them the opportunity to show how they’re applying what they’ve learned to their work.
When a new employee is hired by Crown, they’re paired with a safety mentor for 30 to 45 days, who answers questions and offers demonstrations and explanations about the new work environment.
Crown is committed to attracting and developing talented people. Employees appreciate that commitment and feel that Crown’s training gives them the ability to move their career forward.
